Mobile Optimisation - How do we do it?

What you can see on a mobile optimised pages are the following qualities:

  • No need to zoom in
  • No horizontal scrolling
  • Links and buttons clickable by carpenters thumbs
  • Smaller images and page size (reduce mobile data usage)

Touch Enabled

There are other qualities to these pages which are important for Search Engine Optimisation to make sure your website is found by searches on mobile phones. We also add redirects so when a website knows the request is from a mobile device it automatically redirect the user to the appropriate page.

There are three ways we can optimise your website for mobile.

Pages

We create custom mobile optimised pages included in your existing Cicada Website with automatic mobile redirects between relevant pages.

This option can be included FREE with all new Cicada Website Packages. Check Mobile Optimisation page for price to retro-fit existing Cicada Website.

Skin

Use one of the latest generation of resposive adaptive skins on a new or existing Cicada Website which can adapt itself to any device.

This option can be included FREE with all new Cicada Website Packages. Check Mobile Optimisation page for price to retro-fit existing Cicada Website.

Skin

A simple way to test these skins on a desktop is to open browser in NOT full screen window and grab outside edge and drag in to see what it looks like on smaller resolutions.

Website

Create a new website that mirrors an edited version of an existing 'desktop' website on an 'm' subdomain (eg. http://m.cicada.co.nz/) with automatic mobile redirects between websites.

This option has the benfits of allowing you to have content and pages specically designed for the mobile device. This is important as people search and use websites quite differently to desktop. This is an economic alternative to creating native applications for the various mobile devices.

We can build you a custom mobile only website for the same price as the Cicada Website Package.

There are pros and cons with each of these methods and the one selected will depend on your requirements.
